A Huge Thank You to our Associate Members and our state Associates Council!

Since September is NAHB Associate Appreciation month, there is no better time than now to tell our Associate members/volunteers how awesome they are and how much they are appreciated! Associate members are anyone, besides builders or remodelers, that are involved in the housing industry. They may be subcontractors, utility providers, sales and marketing experts, interior designers, title companies, lawyers, bankers, product suppliers and manufacturers, realtors, insurance agents, you name it. Our Associate members make up more than half of our total membership! They devote countless volunteer hours to the association with many things such as fundraising, networking events, advocacy, committee memberships, and various involvement on the national, state, and local level. There's no doubt that they are an integral part of our team and are an incredible asset not only to the association but to the housing industry as well. One of the primary benefits Associates gain from their m...

A MESSAGE FROM THE AHBA ASSOCIATES COUNCIL CHAIRMAN

Bill Ross, Associate Council Chairman We have already completed our first month of 2016 and it has certainly gone by very quickly!  As we enter into February, there are many new and exciting things heading our way in 2016 from all aspects of our AHBA's associates council.  We look forward to sharing with everyone each month all of these wonderful opportunities on our AHBA website.  There are many new opportunities to grow on the local, state and national levels and we must take advantage of these opportunities now.  What is most important though, is as associates, we need to be active and participate on all levels especially in our local and state HBA's.  Times are changing rapidly, from our economy, to the way we do business, and the health of the building industry amongst a number of other factors.  There is no better time for us to act than  now. I would like to thank our outgoing associates Chairperson, Dianna Nix for her two years of dedicatio...

Hotel Reservation Scams

As the NAHB Fall Board Meeting and the International Builders' Show approach, exhibitors and attendees often receive unauthorized solicitations from hotels or third-party housing agencies which are not affiliated with NAHB. These unaffiliated third parties typically advertise a lower rate than NAHB's official hotel block rates. However, the lower rates may be a reflection of the lower quality of the rooms offered, and/or of significantly less favorable terms that apply to the reservation. For example, cancellation polices imposed on guests who book with such third parties are often harsh and unforgiving. And in other cases, these groups turn out not to have any rooms available on the relevant dates at the low rates they advertise. For these reasons and to support NAHB's efforts to give you the highest quality meeting experience, we strongly encourage you to book your housing accommodations using the reservation tools provided by NAHB. June 25, 2015 — The Home Builders Association of Greater Little Rock (HBAGLR) proudly presented $2,500 to Habitat for Humanity of Pulaski and Lonoke Counties. HBA-GLR named Habitat for Humanity as the beneficiary of the 2nd Annual HBA Trap Shoot that took place on Saturday, April 11th at the Arkansas Game and Fish Shooting Sports Complex in Jacksonville. “With the success of our previous year, the Special Events Committee knew our future shoot could make a significant donation to a charity. As a fellow non-profit and in the home building industry, Habitat for Humanity felt like the right fit for our event beneficiary,” said Bill Ross, the Special Events Committee Chair and Senior Account Representative at ProSource Wholesale Floorcoverings. “Steve and his team at Habitat do amazing work in the counties they serve and that really hits home to our organization. The HBA strives daily to improve the home building industry in Central Arkansas and Habitat for Humanity will be able to use o...
